Visit Flanders schreef een e-boek over de wielergeschiedenis van Vlaanderen: “Cycling is in the Flemish DNA. It permeates the whole of society. From the six-year-old who cycles to school to the CEO who puts in the kilometres after work, from government ministers following a race during Cabinet meetings, to the scientist searching for new bicycle parts or aerodynamic models.”
Ook Fietsberaad Vlaanderen deed een bijdrage over dagelijks fietsen:
“In Flanders, all the authorities join forces on cycling policy. At the same time, they open the doors to organizations and companies that want to contribute to accelerating cycling policy. Our society is ready to give the bicycle a more central place in our daily lives. Cycling must be a self-evident way to get around. Today, Flanders is the second cycling region in Europe, with over 16 per cent bike traffic. In other words, more than 16 per- cent of all journeys in the region are made by bike. For commuting, it’s even more. The aim is to reach 20 per cent by 2025.”
